Simple Avocado Recipes To Make At Home

1. Guacamole

Let’s start simple, shall we? There is no dish more iconic when it comes to Avocado than guacamole. It can be used as a dip or as a spread in tasty dishes such as tortillas. The key to getting the perfect guacamole is to make sure your avocados are perfectly ripe. One area that people often neglect is seasoning. Be sure to use plenty of salt and pepper!

2. Avocado Pasta

When you think of green pasta, your mind probably goes towards pesto. But why not pimp it up a little with something creamy and indulgent. Avocado pasta couldn’t be simpler to make. Add spaghetti, a little cooking water, and a handful of crushed pine nuts. As a final flourish, throw in half a mashed avocado and stir. It couldn’t be easier. This is one of our favorite mid-week lunches.

3. Shrimp Stuffed Avocado

Shrimp cocktail is all good and well, but here is how to make it better… Put it in an edible bowl. How? Half an avocado makes the perfect vessel for housing a few juicy and succulent shrimp coated in a strong-tasting sauce along with some crisp lettuce and a few slices of tomato. This is a really easy and effective way to ensure fantastic restaurant-quality presentation and is our go-to for dinner parties

4. Millennial Toast

We’ve all heard the jokes. Our answer to this is ‘OK, boomer’. There is nothing wrong with avocado toast. In fact, we can see why it has become so popular. Top a piece of lightly toasted sourdough with some slices of creamy Avocado. Add some salt and pepper and if you feel like a little extra, add a soft poached egg. This is the food of the gods!

5. Joes Club Sandwich

If you can get hold of Danish-style flatbreads, this is lunch avocado recipe that you will definitely want to try. We create this sandwich using precooked chargrilled chicken, slices of tomato, a good helping of Avocado. We then finish it with a thick layer of tasty green pesto. If you have a panini maker, now is the time to use it to get those delicious signature stripes.

6. Avocado and Tomato Salad

We love avocados. They are so rich and creamy. Sometimes it can all get a little too much. Well, here is the answer. If you get some good quality tomatoes, you’ll find the acidity works really well to cut through the fattiness of the Avocado. Throw in some torn-up mozzarella, a little olive oil, and plenty of seasoning. It doesn’t get better than this

7. Avocado Smoothie

avocado smoothie

Lean, mean, and green. No, we aren’t talking about Kermit, the frog in his younger years. This smoothie is packed full of good things. It’s a great way to start the day and gives you pretty much all of your five-a-day in one hit! You’ll need a blender or nutribullet. If your smoothie is too thin, add a handful of crushed ice and give it another whizz.

8. Avocado Tomatillo Breakfast Tacos

Listen, don’t feel guilty about having tacos for breakfast. This breakfast avocado recipe is actually really good for you! It is packed with tasty ingredients, all of which are good for your wellbeing. Such as? Try some of these scrambled eggs, spinach, tomatoes, and of course, our little green friend, the humble Avocado! Top the entire thing off with a little tangy salsa.

9. Chocolate Avocado Overnight Oats Jars

If you are tired of waking up bleary-eyed and look at preparing breakfast as a chore, then this recipe is the one you should pick. Overnight oats are easily assembled. The longer you leave them in the fridge, the better they are. This recipe includes a good helping of chocolate too. If that isn’t worth getting out of bed for, we don’t know what is!

10. Avocado Quinoa Breakfast Muffins Recipe

It is no secret that avocado recipes are part of the health craze sweeping the nation, throw in some quinoa, and you’ve got a protein-packed treat! There are other sources of fiber in these muffins, making them ideal for improving your gut health. They include chia seeds and almonds too! The best thing is that you can freeze them once baked, meaning you’ve got breakfast on the go any day of the week.

11. Avocado Bowls

This recipe will change the way that you view breakfast. It is vivid, bright, and full of vitamins and minerals. Think of it a little like a thick smoothie. You add Avocado and blueberries before giving it a very quick pulse. Add it to a bowl and top with chopped bananas and a small handful of granola. If you want to add a dash of honey, we won’t judge you.

12. Avocado Corn Salad

Avocado features fairly heavily in Mexican cooking, as does corn. This is a great BBQ side dish. It is so floral, refreshing, and summary. While Avocado tastes great, it can sometimes be a bit ‘meh’ in the texture department. It’s up to you to change that. We like to pair ours with a mix of crunchy and sweet corn, along with some cubes of red chopped pepper. Finish the lot off with a squeeze of lime juice, and you are good to go!

13. Guacamole Salad

Crunchy and really filling, this salad is amazing. You get all of the taste and goodness of Avocado with lots of other little additions. We are talking sweet and crisp onions, juicy tomatoes, lime juice, and perhaps even a little chili heat? The best way to think of this dish is as a deconstructed guacamole. All of the taste, with additional texture.

14. Avocado Tuna Salad Sandwich

Tuna salad sandwiches are normally made with a large serving of mayo. Let’s offer you an alternative which is every bit as good and twice as healthy. Mix canned tuna with half an avocado. Add some chopped green onion along with some lemon juice and seasoning. Serve between two thick slices of crusty and rustic bread. It couldn’t be easier!

15. Crispy Chicken and Avocado Wraps

When Avocado is heated, it turns super mushy, almost like an avocado sauce. Cooked chicken tastes amazing, but it can be a little dry. When you pair chicken and Avocado together, it is a force to be reckoned with! Want a top tip? You don’t need a panini press. Just use a skillet and place something heavy (like another saucepan) on top of your wrap. Flip halfway, and you’ll still get that crispy flat section that makes it oh so delicious!

16. Avocado Bruschetta with Balsamic Reduction

This is one of those simple dishes that we could eat every day of the week. Bruschetta is normally served with basil, tomatoes, and mozzarella. In this recipe, we swap out the cheese for chunks of green Avocado. Be sure to add a few drops of balsamic to the top of each bruschetta. It really helps the tomatoes to shine!

17. Avocado Hummus

When making homemade hummus, one of the hardest things is getting that creamy texture you’ll find in the store-bought version. Adding a little avocado is a real cheat. But we don’t care, it tastes absolutely fantastic! Combine a can of chickpeas (with juice) in a blender with a squeeze of lime, a few chunks of Avocado, and a splash of olive oil. Add a couple of garlic cloves and blitz until you’ve got a smooth paste. Now, where did we put those chips?

18. Creamy Zucchini and Avocado Soup

Cold summer soups aren’t for everyone, but if you want an Avocado-based appetizer that is creamy and refreshing without being too filling, you need to give this one a try! It is a great alternative to gazpacho. Provided you have a blender and a little bit of patience, it is ideal. Top with toasted pine nuts, some salt and pepper, and a few more chunks of bright green Avocado. Another one to add to the zucchini recipe list.

19. Avocado Black Bean Quesadillas

Vegetable quesadillas can be a little boring when compared to their meat-based counterparts. A few slices of creamy Avocado will take it to the next level. Combine with other Mexican favorites like black beans, sweet red onions, and black olives. Oh, and don’t forget a good dusting of cumin to finish the job. We prefer ours toasted, but you can also bake quesadillas in the oven.

20. Creamy Avocado Pesto

We love any dish containing basil. This green herb is bright and highly fragrant. You can find that you end up burning through your entire supply if you are making a green pesto. Well, here is the solution. Supplement something delicious and green with something else that shares similar characteristics. Of course, we are talking about Avocado. Because Avocado is really rich, it allows you to really cut back on the quantity of oil needed to make a luxurious pesto.

21. Avocado Greek Yogurt Ranch Dressing

Ranch dressing with Avocado! You bet! We actually think that this is a better version than the original. It has all of that sour taste but much fewer calories. It is the perfect accompaniment for so many recipes, from buffalo chicken wings to salads and chips. Make a batch and store it. You won’t be disappointed.

22. Easy Avocado Ice Cream

We did tell you that Avocado was a really versatile food. Want to see what we mean? Hows about an Avocado based dessert? Avocado ice cream is green and could be confused with mint chocolate chip. Except… It is sooo much better! Because of its texture, when you include Avocado in ice cream, it makes it even creamier!

23. Avocado Brownies

Traditionally, brownies are made from little else but butter, cocoa, and sugar. It’s about time that we made them a little healthier. You can swap out the vast majority of butter for Avocado. Then your brownies will be full of healthy fats. In fact, it is actually hard to tell the difference once they are baked.

24. Easy Avocado Truffles

This is another dessert dish that traditionally relied on fat to form the bulk of the recipe. If you are going to use fat, why not make it a healthy fat? Avocado is a great choice. This recipe is a good way to use up any extra avocado and keeps well in the fridge for up to 5 days… Not that you’ll need to worry about that, as they’ll be gone in a day, guaranteed!

25. Double Chocolate Avocado Banana Bread

Avocado is a great way to make anything baked stay moist. Due to its mild flavor, it won’t overpower anything else in the dish. In this case, we really want the bananas to shine through. Be sure to use overripe bananas for maximum flavor. The avocado oil helps unlock that true taste you look for in your banana bread.

26. Avocado Nutella

OK, we are going to tell you a secret. We often end up eating Nutella straight from the jar. That’s obviously not a healthy thing to do. We’ve come up with a Nutella substitute, created using fresh avocados. Suddenly we don’t feel quite as guilty when we go plunging in with a tablespoon. Toast some hazelnuts, add some melted chocolate, and a decent heap of Avocado. Bang the lot into a food processor with a splash of milk and a little oil. Job done!
