How To Make Bisquick Fried Chicken

When it comes to crispy chicken, a flavorsome breading is all that we need. With the use of different spices, the basic Bisquick mix makes a delicious coating. Normally I keep the dry Bisquick mixture ready in a clean and sealed bottle. Then I simply mix it with melted butter and voila! The batter is ready to coat the chicken.

You can create the coating as per your preference. Since I like it thin and crispy, I only dip the chicken once. However, you can dip twice or thrice to give it a thick coating and then bake it in the oven. And that’s what makes this chicken so healthy and fat-free. It is crispy as if it is fried, but you certainly need no oil to cook this chicken.

Baking is preferable, whereas Air frying is another effective method to enjoy this chicken. So, whether you are on a fat-control diet or on a weight controlling one, this recipe is a fit for both. It’s about time to put on our aprons and let’s do some cooking!

Tips & Tricks for the Quality Fried Chicken

At times, the chicken gets too dry during baking. So, to keep up it moist and soft, use a mallet to pound the chicken pieces. Now when the chicken is coated and baked, it will remain soft and moist on the inside.

Butter is an important part of its breading. Some people make the mistake of replacing it with cooking oil, which does not only spoil its taste but also its flavors. So always use the butter in the specified amount.

For a better coating, dip the chicken in the egg first then dip it in the batter. In this way, the coating will stay in its place.

As the chicken is baked, it releases plenty of juices. So, it is better to keep the chicken in a baking pan or dish. Then cover that dish with a foil sheet. When you cover the chicken, it also keeps the moisture locked inside.

This fried chicken can be best served with some fresh vegetable salad, creamy mashed potatoes or butter biscuits to make a complete meal.

If you don’t have a Bisquick mix at home, then don’t worry! You can create a suitable alternative by mixing 6 cups flour, a tablespoon of salt, and 3 tablespoons of baking powder. Mix this dry powder mixture with 1 cup vegetable shortening in a pastry blender to get a crumbly mixture. This mixture can be stored for as many as 3 months in an airtight container.
