At Taco Ball, you can find a lot of desirable menu items. One of the items no longer available on the menu includes the Taco Bell enchirito. You might be thinking what is so good about this and that’s what we are going to coverin today’s recipe.

The enchirito is so delicious that once you have it once, you will ask the cashier for it even if you know that the menu doesn’t include it. Some people say that the main menu doesn’t have it but the secret menu does. And the interesting thing is that the cashier may have a secret button for it.

They may also have the recipe for it. Therefore, even if you live far away from your favorite Taco Bell, you don’t need to worry. You can make your own Taco Bell from the comfort of your home. All you need to do is follow the Copycat version of the recipe. Just make sure you have all the ingredients to hand for the recipe.

Although there are a lot of good things mentioned about Taco Bell, one of the best things is that it creates new ideas. If you are looking for the best example of the creativity Taco Bell offers, you may check out the enchirito. Just like the name, it was created from a combo of both burrito and enchilada. They’re also well known for their quesadillas.

As far as history is concerned, the Taco Bell enchirito appeared in the 1970s for the first time. At that time, it was advertised as a corn tortilla packed with onions, pinto beans, ground beef and topped with olives, cheese, and red sauce. In 1993, however, it was taken off the menu and added back after a few changes. After a while, the corn tortilla was replaced with a white wheat tortilla. Aside from this, another change that they made was the removal of the olive slice off the top. In 2013, this was removed from the menu.

What Is So Special About This Copycat Enchirito?

This copycat enchirito is quite special because it is packed with red sauce, ground seasoned beef, refried beans and topped up with chopped onions and cheese. If you heat it up in the oven until the cheese turns brown, you will just love it.

It’s all about the sauce!

What makes a great difference in this recipe is the sauce. The Taco Bell sauce comes with a blissful flavor and the right amount of spice, which makes it reasonably hot. Aside from this, you may use twice as much sauce on tacos. The same applies to other Mexican recipes that you can try. As far as my taste buds are concerned, I just love this sauce while making nachos at home.

How To Assemble

If you want to assemble the enchirito, you should spread 1/4th of the refried beans on the tortilla. Next, you can add ground beef, roll the tortilla and put seam side down.

Follow the same process for the rest of tortillas. Next, you can top it up with chopped onions, cheese and sauce. If you want, you can also add a few slices of black olives. It all boils down to your personal taste.

Optional Oven Baked

For this, you need to preheat the oven to over 300 degrees.

Use a non-stick spray and use it on your 9 x 13-inch pan. Now, put the assembled enchiritos on the pan and top it up with the rest of shredded cheese and sauce. Lastly, put it in the oven for 15 minutes. In other words, you should remove it from the oven after the cheese melts.

Keep in mind that Taco Bell doesn’t use the baking method. However, you can follow this recipe and it will work equally great.
