Healthy cinnamon rolls are always delicious treats irrespective of the time of day but making these cinnamon rolls in a mug was down right enjoyable and absolutely tasty. Ready in no time.

Ingredients

  • For the Cinnamon roll
  • 9 tablespoons 9 of Flour

  • 1 teaspoon 1 Baking powder

  • A little salt

  • 3-4½ tablespoons 3-4½ water

  • 1 teaspoon 1 of Cinnamon

  • Coconut sugar: 1 tablespoon, you can add fine sugar – do not use large sugar chunks.

  • 1 teaspoon 1 Water

  • dab of olive oil for greasing the mug

  • Frosting:
  • 3 tablespoons 3 of natural sugar (powdered)

  • Plant-based milk or water drop per teaspoon

Directions

  • Grease a normal sized mug with a small amount of oil. Make sure it reaches the bottom and edges well.
  • First, prepare a coating. In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar with plant based milk or water. Add a little bit of liquid. It is not that necessary. What you need most is a teaspoon of water, very little if you use milk. Stir well until the mixture is smooth
  • Add flour, baking powder and salt to another small bowl and mix.
  • Add water slowly (3-4 tablespoons, stir until you begin to make the dough, and then knead with hands, putting several times until it becomes a soft, doughy ball. If you do not meet too much, add water and treat it as needed.
  • Dry the workbench with a small amount of flour and then roll the dough into 4-inch strips.
  • Sprinkle coconut sugar and cinnamon evenly on the dough, folding the edges in and sealing to prevent falling when lifting into a cup (see video above).
  • Roll it and gently lift it into a greased cup.
  • Pour half a teaspoon of water and put it in the microwave.
  • Place in the microwave on full power for 45-50 seconds.
  • If you check, the swelling will be good and if you insert a toothpick or skewer into the dough, it will be clean. The top and sides are naturally soft, slightly wet and mostly cooked in cups, so they are a bit dirty when you first find them.
  • Serve with the plate and the spoon in the frost and consume immediately.

Notes

  • Tip: If you want to learn how to make cinnamon rolls, this recipe is easy. Not only is it simple and easy to understand, but it is also diverse. Add a teaspoon or tablespoon of lemon juice to your liking. It adds extra dimensions without overwhelming the taste.
  • My microwave is 1200 watts. You may need to set the time slightly above or below. All microwave ovens are different, so do not overdo it. If you eat too much, it will be difficult, so first check the microwave strength and set it accordingly. The maximum time required is about 10 minutes. This is only when the microwave speed is too low. Do not forget to continue cooking for a bit after removing if you need to cook more for 5 seconds to avoid overcooking.

Have Realistic Expectations

You will end up disappointed if you are anticipating a cinnamon roll that will satisfy your sweet tooth. You need to understand that this recipe is oil and yeast free.  Next, it is one of the simplest recipes to make a dessert within 5 minutes. Since it is made in the microwave, it will not caramelize. If you keep these facts in mind then you will not end up disappointed.

The recipe provided is a quick and simple version. It is indeed delightful and can be enjoyed after a meal.

Issues related to overcooking

If you are familiar with the use of microwaves, you will know that overcooking will never make the item soft and spongy. The cinnamon roll is not an exception either. The cooking time may vary depending on the power of the microwave. To sum it up, it is imperative to make adjustments in the cooking time to suit your preferences.

Final Thoughts

Make sure that you use baking powder, not the baking soda. A common issue but improves the charm of the recipe. To give the dessert a mouthwatering taste and a decent look you need to add baking powder. Make sure to consume the cinnamon roll immediately. Do not risk cooling it first or reheating, as it will make the dough tough.

For best results, you can use white flour although whole wheat gives a decent result. Gluten-free blends do not yield a decent taste. Hence, it is advisable to use all-purpose flour. To get the best results do not try subbing it.

The Cinnamon roll in a mug is a doughy, sticky, and warm dessert. If you need a lip-smacking treat in the least possible time this dessert is right for you. I will not recommend it to people who are fitness freak and counts every calorie they consume.

However, the good thing about it is that it is oil-free and makes for a better choice than the most commercially made cinnamon rolls. Always watch your portions if you’re struggling with your weight and do not risk adding sugar if you are diabetic.
