Discover The Decadent, Unforgettable Treat That Is Oreo Smores

Smores bring to mind roaring campfires and dark, starry nights spent celebrating with and enjoying family members and friends. Surprisingly, however, these treats can be easily made right in your own home. Moreover, although they are traditionally made with three simple ingredients: graham crackers, marshmallows, and rich chocolate squares, they can also be made with your favorite cookie. Oreo smores bring everyone’s favorite things together to produce an indulgent treat that is sure to satisfy.

One of the best things about this dessert is that it’s incredibly easy to make. You only need a good baking sheet and a working oven. This is far less challenging than roasting marshmallows over coals, finding and cleaning sticks, and trying to hold everything together in the great outdoors. You can put all of your ingredients together at the table or on the counter top and then simply drop them in the oven for a few quick minutes.

Kids and teens love these decadent treats. If you intend to host a sleepover at your house any time soon, you can whip this recipe out to sate the sweet tooth cravings of all your guests. Just make sure to have plenty of water and a salty snack on hand as everyone will want something savory to balance it all out, and something cool to wash it down with. Smores made with Oreo cookies are also great when served with milk.

Tips & Tricks

It is important to consider the texture of your marshmallows when you plan on serving these. Smores are generally best served hot. The warmth of being fresh from the fire and the softness of recently melted marshmallows is what contributes to their gooey deliciousness.

You will even find that this is a great way to get rid of stale cookies that have been sitting in your pantry for quite a while. One trick for using Oreo cookies that have gone stale and soft over time is by removing the frosting, crushing the actual cookies up, mixing the crumbles with butter, and creating a dark chocolate pie crust. Opting to use the whole cookies for smores instead, however, is much easier and infinitely more tasty.

As you look around for ingredients, try to find chocolate that will pair well with the naturally dark chocolate that these cookies are made from. If you really want to get fancy, you can also make your very own marshmallows from scratch. If you want quick and easy, however, buy your ingredients ready-made and follow the recipe instructions carefully. Even if you have nominal skills in the kitchen, this is one treat that is guaranteed to turn out perfectly each and every time you make it.
