Copycat Nando’s Peri Peri Chicken Recipe


Nando’s is one of my go to restaurants but it can be pricey! For that reason I knew I had to try making some of these dishes myself at home. The rich and spicy Nando’s peri peri chicken always makes your mouth water with its pleasing aroma and an irresistible look. This peri peri chicken recipe gained such popularity with now every other restaurant offering the classic peri-peri flavors in one meal or another.

So, attention all Peri Peri lovers! This time you will not need to visit Nando’s to enjoy those spell-casting flavors, rather you can make this Nando’s peri peri chicken recipe right from the comfort of your home in just a few minutes.

When the first time I baked this chicken at home, it turned out to be really great without much effort or time. You just need to season it well, and then the rest of the work is completed by your oven.

The magic happens due to the combination of spices used to make the special peri-peri seasoning. That tangy flavor can be recreated easily if you use the correct proportions of the spice and herbs. And the recipe I bring to you today has just the perfect balance of spices that we always wanted.

Today, in this recipe, we are going to make an interesting combination with the peri-peri chicken. The chicken will be served with roast corn cobs and the coconut lime rice. Trust me, when you try them together with the chicken, it all tastes so heavenly. And it is light and healthy for all. It makes a complete meal with minimum time and effort. If you know how to roast the chicken, then you cook this super delicious peri-peri chicken in no time. The secret behind its good taste is a good use of seasonings and long marination. The minimum marination time must be 1 hour, but you can leave the chicken up to 24 hours in the refrigerator to allow it to absorb all the prices.

Nando’s chain is a delight to come across but making the Nando’s peri peri chicken dish yourself is definitely rewarding.


  • 2 tablespoons 2 olive oil

  • 2 teaspoons 2 chili flakes

  • 4 cloves garlic crushed or grated

  • Juice of 2 limes

  • 2 teaspoons 2 smoked paprika

  • 2 teaspoons 2 oregano

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • Black pepper to taste

  • 8 chicken legs, thighs or boneless chicken pieces

  • 4 small 4 corn on the cobs

  • Coconut Lime Rice
  • 10 ½ oz. basmati or long-grain rice

  • 400 ml 400 tin coconut milk

  • 200 ml 200 of water

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 14 oz. 14 tin black-eyed peas

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 4 spring onions sliced

  • To serve
  • Sliced spring onions and lime wedges


  • Set the oven’s temperature to 425 degrees F to preheat.
  • Mix olive oil, chili flakes, garlic, lime juice, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  • Place the chicken a baking tray and rub the peri chicken rub over the chicken liberally.
  • As you season the chicken score, it’s skin with a fork then cover it.
  • Place the seasoned chicken bowl in the refrigerator for 1 hour or more.
  • Once the chicken is marinated, mix again to rub the marinade over the pieces.
  • Spread the marinated chicken pieces in a baking sheet, greased with cooking.
  • Roast the peri-peri chicken for 30 minutes then remove from the oven.
  • Place the corn cobs in the same tray and roast again for 10 minutes.
  • Coconut Lime Rice
  • Meanwhile, prepare coconut lime rice in a cooking pot.
  • Take a medium-sized cooking pot and fill it with water, and coconut milk.
  • Cook this milk mixture to a boil and add rice to the boiling mixture.
  • Cover the rice and cook for 8 minutes until the liquid is completely absorbed into the rice.
  • Stir in lime juice, spring onions, and black eye peas, then cover again for 2 minutes.  
  • Then remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.
  • Divide the rice in the serving plates and top them with corn cobs and peri-peri chicken.
  • Drizzle the chicken juices on top and garnish with spring onions and lime wedges.
  • Serve warm and fresh.


  • If you are not ready to serve the chicken, then do not roast it before time. Let it marinate till the last minute then bake in the oven.
  • To serve the leftover peri-peri chicken, store it in a sealable container and reheat in the oven at low temperatures to keep the moisture of the chicken intact.
  • If you are not in the mood to serve chicken legs or thighs, then you can also use boneless chicken breasts. Season the pounded chicken breast fillets with the same peri-peri seasoning as given in the recipe and cook the chicken breast according to its cooking time.
  • Grilling can also be used as a method of cooking to give your chicken a strong smoky flavor and a nice juicy texture.
