Sweet-tasting buns with crunchy, meaty portions of chicken. It’s one of the most popular fast-food menu items around. Due to its massive demand from loyal and new customers, the Popeyes chicken sandwich has always been sold out.

Is Popeyes Fried Chicken Sandwich Worth the Hype

popeyes copycat sandwich

It was in August 2019 when Popeyes debuted the crispy chicken sandwich. Customers immediately poured into their stores and patiently waited in long lines just to have their own bite of the sandwich. Its popularity continued and just 2 weeks after the food’s debut, it had sold out. I knew I had to replicate this delicious copycat of Popeyes fried chicken sandwiches.

Why was Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich considered as the fast-food phenomenon of 2019?

Well, what’s to resist from eating the chicken sandwich and adding it into your meal.

First of all, the sandwich is big – much bigger than a regular fast-food burger – with a measurement of around 5 inches or more in diameter. What’s more, the fried chicken’s tender golden-brown exterior perfectly blends with the shiny, soft, and orange-y bun. Adding to its mouth-watering, pleasing look is a smear of sauce and some green pickles (this is where things get spicy).

Its floury, warm smell is another reason to have one on your plate. When it comes to making fried chicken, Popeyes has perfected it – juicer and thicker than other fried chickens being served out there. The scale of calories is around 480. (we’re already making you hungry, are we?)

This sandwich hit the restaurant like a powerful wind. Its effect was very strong even when it returned to the global menu. Regardless of its (quite) heaviness with a substantial bun, a huge slab of chicken breast, and pickles, Popeyes chicken sandwich is within everyone’s budget. No wonder it is a double hit among consumers of all types.

How To Make Popeyes Chicken Sandwich (Copycat)

This is our sandwich take: The fried chicken sandwich by Popeyes makes a massive splash with fresher pickles, delicious sauce, and nicer bun. Of course, don’t forget the crackly, crunchy signature breading. It has been compared to other well-known chicken sandwich, but its popularity still reigns – from texture to appearance to smell and taste.

While it takes time before Popeyes return the chicken sandwich into their popular menu, its impact tends to continue to gain momentum.

Sold out or not, you no longer need to wait for too long just to satisfy your craving for this now-popular sandwich. Yes, making your own is highly possible – and we’re here to guide you through the preparation process!

So, prepare your ingredients now and join us in making the best Popeyes chicken sandwich you will eat all year long!

Tips & Tricks:

  • Brioche buns are the most recommended buns to use for making a chicken sandwich at home as they can be able to replicate the texture and copy of Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich.
  • Cornstarch is one of the essential ingredients you shouldn’t overlook or replace with another ingredient because it can help make the crust very light and crunchy compared to just battering the friend chicken with flour. But if the cornstarch is not available in your home or local store, you can use more flour and add a tablespoon of baking powder.
  • Use buttermilk to give your chicken the authenticsouthern taste besides helping the crust make small crinkles for extra crispness. Don’t have buttermilk at home or at your nearest grocery store? DIY buttermilk is as easy as 1-2-3! Just stir one tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice with one cup of milk. Allow standing for five minutes until you see the milk is starting to curdle.

  5. Delicious! I made my own buttermilk, followed the rest of recipe exactly, marinated chicken for 30 minutes. Made the spread a little hotter. Sliced a dill spear. I think it tastes better than the other one.
